Synthetic Amethyst Pendant

'Crackling' in gems refers to the pattern formed by many little fractures inside clear gemstones. This is usually done to quartz, but can be done to a variety of gems, including amethyst. The gemstone is repeatedly heated and cooled to achieve this shattered effect. The stone itself may be natural, but the crackling is not. 

And don't worry, the fractures are contained within the gem, so it will not break or shatter.
